Your next customer may never see your homepage. Their AI assistant will.
People now ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot or Perplexity to “find a commercial cleaning company near me” or “book a consult with a therapist who takes online sessions.” The assistant reads a few websites, recommends one or two, and increasingly acts: it compares options, fills in the form and hands it back to the customer to send. A site that assistants can't read clearly or act on is easier to skip.
Customer asks
“Find a commercial cleaner in Atlanta who does post-construction cleanup.”
Assistant reads
It looks for clear, consistent facts: what you do, where, for whom, and how to start.
Agent acts
It checks your service area, looks up services and pre-fills your quote or booking form.
Customer approves
The customer reviews what the agent filled in and presses Submit. You get a qualified lead.
What is WebMCP? The plain-English version
Today, when an AI assistant tries to do something on a website for someone, like request a quote or book a consult, it has to act like a person with a mouse. It reads the screen, guesses which box is which, and clicks around. That's slow, and it often gets things wrong or gives up.
WebMCP is a new web standard that lets your website hand the assistant a short menu of things it can do, with clear instructions for each: “look up our services”, “check whether this address is in our service area”, “fill in a quote request”. It's like giving a new receptionist a checklist and the right forms, instead of the keys and “figure it out”.
Why it helps
- Accurate answers: assistants get your facts from you, not from guesses or old listings.
- Fewer lost leads: agents will be able to fill in your form correctly, the first time.
- You stay in control: the customer reviews and sends every request, and agents only see what's already public on your site.
- A head start: WebMCP is in early testing in Google Chrome, and mainstream assistants don't use it yet. Building it in now costs very little and means you're ready when they do.
No one can say exactly when AI assistants will adopt it widely. The parts of an AI-ready site that pay off today are clear content, structured data and easy forms, and every package includes them.
What an AI agent needs from your site
Agents act. Customers approve.
With WebMCP, an agent will be able to look up your services, check whether an address is in your service area, and pre-fill your quote form. Nothing is sent until the customer reviews it and presses Submit, and agents are told never to guess prices or enter sensitive details.
One source of truth
Your website, AI search summaries, WebMCP tools and VoiceMesh voice agent all answer from the same approved facts, so customers get the same answer everywhere.
Measured every month
Growth and Pro care plans include an AI visibility check: we ask the major assistants your customers' questions and report whether you're recommended and described accurately, plus visits and leads from AI tools.
